160-Bed Pennsylvania Hospital Cuts Average Bed Turnover Time by 50% in First 30 Days

This 160-bed hospital in Pennsylvania brought BedWatch Bed Control on board in December 2014 to help address slow turnover times and a lack of bed visibility.

Using Bed Control, the hospital’s nursing staff is able to immediately notify EVS team members of discharge cleans, speeding up the bed turnover process. Instead of waiting for a notification from the hospital ADT system or a call from patient placement, BedWatch Bed Control allows nursing staff to notify EVS of discharge cleans with the touch of a button, as they happen, helping to reduce unnecessary down-time in the bed turnover process.

Within the first 30 days of service, average EVS team member response and cleaning times dropped by more than 50%.

Hospital leaders have successfully maintained bed turnover improvement through increased oversight, made possible in part by the comprehensive, objective performance metrics collected by BedWatch at each point of the bed turnover process. The increased visibility BedWatch provides helped the hospital continue to maintain that improvement throughout the first six months of service, despite completing 50% more discharge cleans each day, on average.
