Florida Hospital Improves Transport Efficiency Despite Rising ADC and a Reduction in Staff

This 250-bed hospital in northeastern Florida implemented BedWatch Transport Control in September 2013.

During the first year of service, the hospital staff used BedWatch to drive significant improvements in both performance and efficiency, despite rising Average Daily Census (ADC) numbers and a reduction in transport staff.

Before BedWatch, the Patient Transport Department consisted of 14.6 FTEs – upon implementation in September 2013, that number dropped to 12.2 FTEs and a manager.

Even as the average daily census began to climb in early 2014, the hospital’s Transport staff was able to continue to drive improvement, completing nearly twice as many daily transports as they did before BedWatch.
